After more than two decades of planning, Randwick City Council has secured a $4.9 million property on Cuzco Street, South Coogee, a crucial step toward completing the famous Bondi-to-Coogee coastal walk. The property will be demolished to allow a new stretch of public walkway connecting South Coogee and Lurline Bay, creating a continuous route all the way from Bondi to Malabar.

The land was originally home to local arts figure Ellen Waugh, who lived there for nearly a century. Following her passing earlier this year, Council finalised the purchase and plans to name the new section of the track in her honour.

This connection has long been seen as the missing link in Sydney’s most popular coastal trail, expected to draw even more visitors through the Eastern Suburbs each year and further enhance the lifestyle appeal of South Coogee’s oceanfront pocket.
